Official Minecraft party supplies are not available as of yet but there are plenty of great ways to create a party that will be perfect for this theme. We’ve gathered some ideas and searched far and wide for supplies which we have featured here to help you put it all together…
Minecraft Birthday Invitations
For Minecraft birthday invitations there are a few options available to you, which is great for getting the word out about your party, before it gets dark and the creepers come out.
If you’re on a budget we’ve put together these free Minecraft invitations templates and hope they’ll come in handy. All it needs you to do is simply print off the invites, fill them in and send them out to your guests. For something a little more personal and unique both ebay and etsy are great places to find personalized Minecraft invitations. Ticket, photo, custom-made, you name it, there are lots of designs to choose from which will make them just that little bit more special. You can even order personalized printable invitations from sellers who will have it delivered to your email in a couple of hours or less which is a great option for party planners who have a short time frame to put everything together.
If you are a little crafty and like to get your hands dirty another option would be to make the invitations yourself. This would save you a few bucks and really add a personal touch. Another benefit to going down this route is that your child can help put these invites together with you, which is a great way to have them involved in the party planning. Sticking with the Creeper as inspiration for the invitations and also because they are an integral part of this theme… You could make Creeper party invitations with some green cardstock paper and some black construction tape or a marker. This Creeper template will help with tracing the Creeper facial expression onto the paper and then you can use a marker or construction paper to fill it in. For added effect cut out square pieces of different shades of green paper with some black pieces in there too and stick them around the facial expression, this will create that pixelated look. You could even take this a step further and create unique invitations featuring a pixelated image of the guest that you’re sending the invite to. What a pleasant surprise that would be… huh
Birthday Cake and cupcakes
There are lots of fun and easy ways you can go about making your Minecraft birthday cake, so you don’t have to be a professional cake decorator to have the cake looking great. A simple way anyone can decorate a birthday cake is with Minecraft edible cake toppers which is easily applied to a frosted cake and has a lovely finish. You could even go a step further and give the cake topper a buttercream icing border to make it look like it has been framed.
For this particular theme there are many different types of cakes you can make which would suit it perfectly – you might have even seen some of the amazing cakes online. A few awesome ideas include a TNT cake, Creeper cake or even a cake which resembles the one the character can make in the actual game. One of the most popular cakes that other party planners have been making is the grass and dirtblock cake and here is a great video tutorial by Rosanna Pansino of Nerdy Nummies showing you how to make one of your own.
If you are planning on making cupcakes the party animal is kindly sharing free Minecraft cupcake toppers and wrapper printables you can use to decorate your cupcakes blend them into the theme. You could also add a dash of green frosting on each cupcake before you pop the cupcake toppers in them as seen in the picture to your right. Other nice touches can include baking square cupcakes with a square baking pan and decorating with square cupcake wrappers.
Favors
Fun favors make for a memorable party so a few interesting Minecraft themed favors in their favor bags is a great way to send guests home after an enjoyable day.
Official Minecraft favor boxes are not available yet but you can still make your own Steve and Creeper goodie bags. To make your Steve favor bags you will need some brown paper lunch bags and an image of Steve’s face. The next thing to do is to simply print off the image and glue it to the lunch bags. The same can be done for your Creeper favor bags, the only difference would be green lunch bags and a creeper image.
If you’re looking for something premade than these Stone castle favor boxes would work well with this theme too, it has a striking resemblance to the cobblestone blocks used to build so many structures in the game and is sturdy enough to hold plenty of favors.
Once the favor carriers are sorted the next thing to think about is what will go in them. Although a little pricey there are a few licensed Minecraft items on the market that would make great favors. Amazon.com has plenty of Minecraft merchandise and you’ll find Minecraft buttons, magnets, stickers, rubber bracelets, lanyards and more. So they’re a great source for picking up some really nice favors. Heck we’ve even noticed that they’ve started selling Minecraft gift sets there too.
It’s always nice to include a favor which will be a constant reminder of the party once it’s over. Pixelated sunglasses would be perfect for this and make a great keepsake favor, it’s something that kids will still be wearing months after the party.
You can also throw in a few candy favors too which will add variety to the favors and appeal to kids with a sweet tooth (that will probably be all of them then). Minecraft candy wrappers for chocolate bars like Hershey are available from sellers on etsy and there are gold bar favor boxes which are perfect for holding skittles, jelly beans and smarties. You can include other tasty treats like watermelon gummies, liquorice and silver or gold colored rock candy. Helen of abritofhappiness.blogspot.co.uk made Minecraft rice krispy coal treats and has shared the steps she took to make them here. You could do the same and pop a few into cellobags labelled Coal.
Not all favors have to be store bought as you can make your own minecraft party favors which may involve a little more effort and time but is of great sentimental value and will be very fun to make. Here are a few DIY favor ideas we’ve found that you can include in your favor boxes.

For downloading youtube videos and converting them into MP3 files this site works well. Once they have been converted; burn the tracks onto the CD.
*Minecraft masks
To make Minecraft masks just print of some character faces from online… A simple Google search should suffice. Using photo editing software like photoshop can help you adjust the sizes before you print them off… Cardstock paper would be best for printing off these as you will want them to be sturdy. Cut holes where the eyes are so kids can see and also punch a hole on either side of the face so that a string can be threaded through to hold the mask in place when worn.
*Minecraft ducktape stickers
Using this creeper template, trace a creeper face on to green duct tape sheets (walmart) and use a sharpie pen to color in the face. Here’s what it will look like or You could even print of these Minecraft sticker templates , just make sure to print them off onto labelling paper.
*DIY Minecraft t-shirts

*DIY Minecraft Magnets
Minecraft magnets can be made with children’s craft magnets available from amazon.com, some minecraft images online printed onto photo paper and a paper punch… Janet21 has the tutorial here>>>
Decorations
To create a great environment which resembles the Minecraft world you’ll need a little creativity and lots of grass like decorations. Balloons are a must for every party and although you won’t find any licensed Minecraft themed balloons in store. You can make Creeper balloons with these printable Creeper balloon templates and some regular lime green latex balloons that can be picked up from the dollar store.
The party animal also provides free Minecraft birthday banner templates, which can be printed off and used to string up a happy birthday message for the birthday boy or girl. We would recommend printing these out on card stock paper so it is not too flimsy and adding a green paper border on each letter will make it stand out a little more.
Your decorations do not have to stop there as bagnitsch came up with the brilliant idea of making her windows look like the glass windows in the game. She did this by cutting white electric tape in the same patterns as seen in the game and sticking them onto her windows. The result was great and it looked awesome.
Using black balloons, black streamers and some red paper you can make spider decorations to stick on your ceiling or the corner of the room. Okay we hope we haven’t lost you there, as you may be wondering what spiders have to do with this theme; well spiders are one of the enemies in the game and are a very recognizable part of game play. To create these creepy crawlies simply blow up a black balloon, cut a few square pieces out of red paper and stick it onto the bottom of the balloon as these will be its eyes. Next you’ll need six strips of black crepe paper or streamers measuring around a metre each to glue/tape on the side of the balloon as it’s legs. Once this is done you’ll have your spider and then it’s just a case of using tape to stick the spider to ceiling or wall.
Minecraft posters would be great for decorating the walls but if you’re hosting a child’s birthday party you could save a little money by printing off free Minecraft coloring pages and having them color it in and display those pictures instead. As further wall decor you could use these cool stonewall decals available from Amazon.com which have the trademark pixelated look that Minecraft is famous for.
Tableware
An important part of the decorations will always be the party table setup. It’s a good idea to have your table matching the rest of the room decorations. A grass table cover would be the perfect way to incorporate the grassy landscape of the game into your party. Some party planners have gone one step further as seen here and started off with a brown table cover and then covered that with a grassy one, cutting square chunks out of the sides so that it makes the table look like a dirt block.
Green tissue grass placemats and pails to hold treats are some of the extras that you can add to make the party table look even better.
Simple green and black/brown plates and cups will work well with this theme but you can make your own Minecraft creeper plates and cups if you want to really give it that Minecraft feel.
To make creeper plates all you’ll need are some green plates, clear colored plates, creeper templates, and a glue gun. First print off, cut and stick the creeper templates into the middle of the green plates, using a hot glue gun apply the glue to the edges of the clear plate and press it into the green plate with the creeper face stuck in it. The clear plate will protect the image from any wear and tear when it is in use and allows us to see the creeper face well. Gravity in motion came up with the original idea and has plenty of awesome ideas on her blog.
For creeper cups print of these templates and use them as a stencil to color in the faces onto the cups.
Food
Preparing the party food for Minecraft will be a breeze because the game gives us so many clues as to what can be served to guests. It features foods like chicken, potatoes, mushroom stew, bread, fish, steak, pork chop, pumpkin pie and a variety of fruits and veggies. All of these foods can be eaten to bring a low health bar back up in the game but also make great party foods as there is a nice balance of healthy, snack and filling foods.
Here are a few ideas for the food:
*Chicken: Chicken nuggets, barbeque chicken, chicken drumsticks
*Mushroom: Stuffed mushrooms
*Potato: Fries, Jacket potatoes
*Bread: Make sandwiches with loafs – subway style
*Fish: Goldfish crackers
*Pumpkin pie: Pumpkin pie
*Golden Apple: Golden Apple dessert recipe by IHASCUPQUAKE
*Cookies: Chocolate chip cookies
*Carrots: Carrot sticks
Fruits: Watermelon slices for watermelon and for apples you can simply put a few in a bowl
Creeper Juice would be the perfect beverage and this can be made with 7up or lemonade with some green food coloring in it.
As a nice touch, many Minecraft party planners have opted to make labels for each food and place them next to the plate of servings. Here are some premade printable food labels courtesy of i choose awesome, which can be printed off and used to label the different foods you prepare.
Games and Activities
*Pin the tail on the Enderdragon
This is basically the Minecraft spin off of the tradition game pin the tail on the donkey. Enderdragon posters can be printed off here along with the tails to play this game which will be particularly fun for fans that are little… One suggestion would be to ensure that you have names on the tails so that it does not get confusing when lots of tails have been pinned on the poster. You could use a white ink pen or edit the tail PDF with photoshop by adding each person’s name.
*Creeper target games (creeper toss and Hit the Creeper)
Making a creeper out of boxes, put a target on its chest and have the kids try to hit the target and knock it down with the bean bag. The person to hit the target the most wins; you can make it more challenging by pushing the creeper back a couple of metres every time it is hit.
Another throwing game which would be fun to play is Creeper toss. In this game you will have to make a target creeper which is basically a flattened out box, colored green, with a creeper facial expression cut out. Players will have to test their throwing skills by throwing a bean bag through the holes in the cardboard creeper piece while it stands upright. If they manage to get the beanbags through the smaller holes (the eyes) they will get more points.
*Minecraft piñata.
Pinata is always a popular game to play at birthday parties and although hard to find there are Minecraft Steve piñatas available from ebay. You can fill it up with sweets, confetti, small toys etc. You could also make your own ghast piñata following domestic femme’s instructions.
*Paper models – Free printables
It’s always fun to include some crafts for kids to enjoy working on. There are plenty of Minecraft printables available here. In fact pretty much every character has a paper template for making cool paper models of themselves. You can print out some of these templates and have the kids make models of their favorite characters.
*Minecraft Bingo Sheets
You could also play Bingo. These Free printable Minecraft bingo sheets created by Life with squeaker would be great for doing so, they feature characters and also come with printable minecraft themed markers. Yep Bingo is a simple game, but it’s great for slowing things down a little while keeping things enjoyable.
*Minecraft scavengers hunt – digging for materials and commodities to trade in for prizes
Hide items representing the materials that can be dug up in the game around the house or your backyard and have the kids search for it. Give them clues and have prizes that they can trade in for what they have found.
*Make your own minecraft weapons, heads and masks
Another crafty activity would be to make Minecraft heads and weapons. The templates can be easily found online and cardboard boxes and the foam sheets can be picked up from a local craft store.
Costumes and Party Attire
Everyone deserves to look their best on their birthday and so a special birthday outfit does not have to go amiss and it’s very possible to put one together on a small budget as well. As mentioned before, you can make your own Minecraft character heads, t-shirts and weapons from free printable templates and a few easy to find materials. But you will also find lots of officially licensed t-shirts, hats, hoodies, jewelry to wear on the day if you’re looking to purchase some of the official merch. To be honest there is plenty to choose from, we particularly like the Minecraft creeper hoodie which can zip all the way up to the top and reveals a creeper face.
Birthday Gifts
One of the most exciting parts of your big day when you’re a kid is the thought of opening your gifts. Now you don’t have to go nuts buying everything Minecraft you see in stores but there are a few items which seem to be very popular among Minecraft fans. So here are our top three Minecraft gift ideas:
*Minecraft Lego collections
These sets have become hugely popular and seem to blend in well with what Minecraft stands for. Kids can build small Minecraft worlds just as they would build their own structures in the game. The sets come with many pieces and are challenging but fun to build and there are at the moment 3 worlds available so if your child has one already they could add another to the collection.
* Minecraft t-shirts
T-shirts never seem to lose their appeal no matter how old you are, especially if it is a cool one. There are so many Minecraft shirts for adults and kids with funny graphics and designs to please even the most fussy of Minecraft fans.
*XBOX live points
For fans that want to play the games on Xbox 360 these points will unlock the Xbox 360 version and it will be available as a download which will allow them to save the game on their console. Nothing major here but you’d be surprised about what it will mean to recipient.
