*Horse shoe throwing

This is the perfect party game to include as part of the entertainment as it is a traditional western game and was featured in the show when Peck became too big headed after winning the game a few times. The game is simple to play and involves stacks and horse shoes. The aim of the game is to throw the horse shoe so that it catches the stacks. *Apple bobbing

Fill up a bucket with water, add some apples and watch as kids try to collect the apples with no hands. This is a game that is guaranteed to provide lots of laughs.

*Coin tossing

The aim of this game is to toss coins into different sized cans. It’s easy to setup, all you need are some old tin cans and a few coins. The child that can get the most coins in the can wins. If the game is too challenging you could use bigger tins or even buckets and replace coins with beanbags, extra effort points can be rewarded for hitting the tins if kids find it difficult to get it inside.

*Sack races

Although not exclusive to the wild west, sack races are always a hoot. To play this game you’ll need potato sacks. Every child starts the race inside the sack with it up to their waist and the aim of the game is to hop as fast as they can to the finish line.  

*Stick Horse Race

To play this game you’ll need some hobby horses for kids to use as their imaginary horses and an obstacle course of some sort. The aim of this game is for kids to gallop around the obstacle course as fast as possible and the person with the fastest time wins.

*Panning for Gold

Fill up a kiddie pool with muddy water (this will be the panning area) and spray paint some rocks with gold spray (gold nuggets), pour the rocks into the muddy water mix, making sure to spread them out and sink to the bottom. *Gold rush scavenger hunt

Using the same spray painted rock technique to make your gold nuggets, you could hide the nuggets in a room in the house or around your back yard. Kids then must find as many as possible. Help them out by offering clues or providing a drawn out map for them to follow.

Sheriff Callie is a whiz with her lasso, so what better way to test our Sheriff’s skills then to have a lasso competition. There are many ways you could go about making a lasso but it is important to make sure it is a kid friendly lasso to prevent accidents. An easy lasso to make is a hula hoop lasso which is basically a hula hoop with some rope tied to it. The target can range from a wooden horse to a pole for the kids to get the lasso on.
